Designer (Truss Manufacturing)

1. What are the major objectives to be accomplished by the person in this job?' Develop truss-manufacturing designs from blue prints to job specific standards.

2. What are the most frequent and most essential work activities in this job?' Ensure plan design development meets required specs and timing deadlines,

3. What people and how many are managed by the person in this job?' Not Applicable.

4. What are the primary people contacts in this job? (With whom? What purpose? How often?)' Home building division managers and locations division manager to discuss logistics and process needs and how the finished product is performing. Also, the Design Manager. Approximately 50% of the time.

5. What behavioral traits, attitudes and skills are required?' Fosters and maintains a high level of customer service by ensuring the quality of the finished product, on time delivery, responsiveness to customer needs, including the occasional visiting of job sites to discuss product quality/specs and resolve issues or concerns with building site managers.

6. What are the prerequisites for employment? (Education, prior experience, other?)' Two plus years experience designing truss components including roof, floor, walls, etc. for single family and commercial applications,' Experience with Auto Cad, Mitek and other truss design software preferred. General knowledge of home building construction, code requirements and framing a plus,' College degree or appropriate technical certification preferred but not required.

7. What are the toughest parts of this job on a day-to-day basis?' Ensuring the overall quality of the design and timely delivery of the finished design.
