Die Cast Operator

Spherion is currently working with a worldwide, privately held corporation located in Greensboro, North Carolina to fill the position of Die Cast Operator.  This is a permanent position and a great chance to become an employee of a reputable organization!

 

As a Die Cast Operator, you must be able to set up, adjust, and operate a variety of die cast machines and equipment for own operation, or for operation by others, to produce and trim metal castings and to provide molten zinc and aluminum alloys.

 

Some Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

 
Set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machines and equipment for operation by others or for own operation where set-ups may by difficult and/or the interaction of the variables in the die casting process may be complex; may involve working with engineers or technicians on parameters or tooling changes to develop and prove out dies and processes.
Verify set ups and parts for conformance to specifications often requiring difficult gauging due to exacting requirements and interdependence of squareness, concentricity, parallelism, or similar precision requirements.
Maintain molten metals in remelt and holding furnaces in proper condition for use in die cast machines; monitor alloys and temperatures and process scrap material.
Perform functions and/or observe all company regulations and policies pertaining to safety, housekeeping, quality, ISO, teams activities, record keeping, material handling, material safety data, inventory systems, and preventive maintenance.
Effectively communicate with peer groups, engineers, team members, managers, and customers.

 

A qualified candidate for this position will have:

 
High School Diploma
3-5 years experience
Demonstrated PC user skills.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and interpret bar graphs.
Demonstrated skills in use of hand tools, gauges, and bar coding and measuring instruments.
Ability to interpret blueprints by visualizing 3D perspective from one or two 2D views.
