Leading development and execution of resource and capacity management strategy, tactics and implementation worldwide within any one of two Sub-divisions within MRL (Basic Research and Preclinical Development) to support optimal alignment of resources within Merck?s development chain. In addition, the position is responsible to lead the integration of capacity, financial and portfolio analysis and reporting to the sub-division head. Supports the Executive Director in the development and implementation of additional critical business infrastructure within MRL R&D Portfolio Management.
?Ensure tactical execution of the capacity management/portfolio management process within the assigned sub-division is carried out in accordance with Divisional vision and priorities and sub-divisional needs. Ensure work is absorbable to accomplish the work of the function.
?Build the organizational infrastructure, information tools and competence for conducting capacity management within the assigned Sub-division consistent with divisional requirements.
?Represent the interests of MRL R&D PM as a single point for RDM and related processes within the assigned Sub-division/franchise.
?Direct all RDM and integrated reporting processes in support of Merck?s entire development chain within the assigned Sub-division/franchise.
?Coordinate and collaborate on a global and cross-functional basis to integrate capacity management effectively into tactical and strategic decision-making within assigned and across all Sub-divisions.
?Facilitate the resolution of priority issues within Merck?s Development Chain within assigned Sub-division with Sub-division leader and Area heads.
?Define, scope and articulate processes that will enhance the efficiency, productivity and cycle time of Merck?s processes along the development chain within the assigned Sub-Division in order to optimize capacity utilization for the development portfolio.
?Develop and apply appropriate metrics and improvement systems to track the performance of capacity within the Development Chain within the assigned sub-division.
?Represent interests of assigned sub-division in Divisional Capacity Planning and Management processes. Ensure resource constraints and implications are clearly defined during divisional resource allocation process.
?Advise basic research and early development teams on best resource options to support the pursue aligned with the team strategy.
Undergraduate degree in Pharmacy, Engineering, Life Sciences, Accounting,Finance or equivalent area required. At least eight years experience in project management and/or business management, preferably within Pharma. Ability to manage complexity and interdependencies across and within client groups required.
Graduate degree in Management, Operations Research or Business Administration preferred.Strong knowledge of the drug development process.Strong planning, analytical skills, budgeting, analysis and control experience.Excellent written and oral communication skills. Excellent people development and faciliatiation skills is desired.
