Ouray Sportswear is a 40 year old, family owned, professionally managed company with sales in the range of $24 million.  We design our own apparel and decorate (Screen Print & Embroidery) our apparel and hats according to our customer?s wishes.  Primary customers are Resort/Destination Area Retailers and College Book Stores.  Check us out at Ouray Sportswear.

We are looking for a professional, experienced, upper management level individual to manage our production operations.  Please review the information detailed below regarding this excellent opportunity for a challenging and rewarding position.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the management of the Embroidery, Screen Print and Art Production operations.  Plans, directs and coordinates the operations of these three departments. Responsible for achieving specific financial objectives that are set by the organization, and directly associated with the management and oversight of the manufacturing process. Assumes responsibility for the development and implementation of processes to meet quality, efficiency, safety and scheduling standards and goals.  Develops resource requirements and sets priorities for these three departments based on business needs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Management:

? Work closely with VP of Operations to develop manufacturing strategies to meet customer and company goals and implement the strategies throughout the manufacturing environment.

? Manage three Department Managers directly as well as indirectly responsible for 90-100 exempt and non-exempt personnel.  Plan, assign and direct the work of Department Managers, including the reviewing, coaching and development of these individuals, including proper documentation.

? Develop and implement processes and motivate maximum attention to quality, safety and efficiency measurements for each department.

? Recommend new approaches, purchases, policies and procedures to effect continual improvement in production qualify and efficiency and increase cost savings.  Includes the cost/benefit analysis as to the feasibility of recommendations.

? Effectively work with various departments both inside and outside of the manufacturing environment to streamline processes and simplify flow of work.

? Effectively communicate manufacturing priorities, needs and solutions to upper and middle management, to meet stated manufacturing and organizational goals.

 

Financial:
 

? Manage the manufacturing environment to achieve organization financial objectives by developing and improving metrics, quality, production efficiency, safety and scheduling.  Make corrective actions as necessary.

? Develop with the VP of Operations and manage budgets for manufacturing operations based on input from sales, marketing, purchasing and current and expected efficiencies within the manufacturing environment.

? Analyze and justify capital and resource purchases and requirements for current and future manufacturing requirements.

 

Production:
Daily:

 

? Review with Department Managers the production totals from the prior day to gauge against quality and efficiency metrics and discuss corrective actions.  Field sales inquiries and quote pricing and lead times for Customer Service Representatives and Independent Sales Representatives, facilitated through the Sales Department.


Weekly:

 

? Review with Department Managers the capacity reports based on production output by department to gauge resource needs and quote lead times.  Review with Department Managers various reports showing manufacturing performance to quality and efficiency metrics.

Monthly/Periodically:

 

? Update costing information to measure unit costs per piece for embroidery and screen print. 

? Review processes, practices and metrics of the 3 departments to ensure achievement of quality, efficiency, safety and schedule standards and goals.

 

Materials:

 

? Directly responsible to ensure the purchase of production supply materials necessary to efficiently meet production requirements.  Directly responsible to ensure that all machinery is properly maintained.


Job Qualifications: 

Education/Training: Associate or Bachelor degree in a manufacturing related discipline or an equivalent of 5 years management experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills/Experience: Able to demonstrate a solid understanding of manufacturing processes and systems.  Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written). Advanced organizational skills.  Competent in the use of computers and field related software.

Equipment/Materials Used: Personal Computer using MS Word & Excel, and proprietary ERP software.

Physical Requirements: Able to sit for long periods at the computer regularly.  Physical ability to lift or move up to 25 pounds on occasion.
