E&I Technician
CITY: Beaumont STATE: Texas COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- The E&I technician will communicate a proactive attitude toward general plant operations, and the successful implementation of the plant's instrumentation/electronics program.
- Oversees and assists in the general repair and maintenance of varied electrical equipment and instrumentation including; flow indicators and meters, level controls, process interlocks, control systems, motor control centers, HVAC systems, lighting systems, and other equipment and instrumentation related to production operations and general plant facilities.
- Insures the good working order, proper maintenance procedures, and safe operation of equipment, to include preventative maintenance.
- Insures the proper handling and disposal of all materials and complying within all environmental control agencies' standards.
- Maintains various records including equipment and work order records, preventative maintenance records, requisitions for equipment, supplies and spare parts.
- Is proficient in operating the following equipment in a safe manner: forklift, cherry picker, man lift, and tractor, and other specialty equipment, as required.
- Will support the conducting of routine testing and PM's on level control systems, flow meter, sensors and other as needed inspections/testing.
- Will be responsible for the E&I maintenance stores, assuring supplies are maintained at safe levels to minimize equipment downtime and maximize asset utilization.
- Responsible for successful completion of EHS audits.
- Must remain current with all GE safety procedures, i.e. lock out/tag out, confined space, hot work permits and PPE's, safe operation when working on scaffolding, ladders, pipe racks and any other plant buildings.
- Remain current on issues within GE and individual plants via; the computer, email, Internet and intranet.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Adhere to roles and training - as defined by the Environmental Safety Management System.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Successful completion of a 2-year associates degree in instrumentation technology, 4-year apprentice program in instrumentation/electronics, or equivalent on-the-job training.
- Demonstrate strong working knowledge of the following electrical systems:
- Read electrical prints.
- Troubleshoot 480volt/120 volt motor controls.
- Plant light.
- Package equipment controls (boilers, demineralizers, etc).
- Process electrical interlocks.
- Working knowledge of various test equipment (DVM, amp meter, etc).
- Show proficiency in the following:
- Read analog loop prints.
- Troubleshoot 1-5 volt/4-20 mA controls.
- Program instrument controls.
- Understanding pneumatic controls.
- Working with field elements (temperature and pressure instrumentation).
- Single and multi-loop controllers.
- Electronic level transmitters.
- Demonstrate proficiency in general computer use and instrumentation programming:
- Reading PLC prints.
- Using various software programs.
- Understanding ladder and function block programming.
- Creating, downloading and uploading programs.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. repetitively.
- Team player, individual thinker, self-starter.
- Ability to drive and lead change.
- A positive and cooperative attitude are a must.
Desired:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical and electronic flow meters.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- A thorough understanding of the industrial production process.
- Forklift qualified.
- Detail-oriented.
- Previous training on hazardous materials handling and disposal.
- Familiarity with environmental laws, regulations and guidelines.
- Basic operating knowledge of a computer, MS Outlook, SAP and the Internet/intranet.
