EngineeringJobResources is currently working on two search assignments for exceptional engineers.  The first opportunity is for an Junior Environmental Health and Safety Engineer in Fairfax, SC.  The second position is for an ISO/Quality Lead Engineer in Fairfax, SC. 

 

Our client is an industry leader in the production of Oriented Strand Board (OSB). With a base of roughly 700 employees, this company operates three production facilities in Canada and two in the US. 

 

The candidates we seek will have the following qualifications and responsibilities:

 

Environmental Health & Safety EngineerImplements and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Involved in the design and development of facilities, work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Responsible for preparing, maintaining, and updating environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Serves as contact with all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 0-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within this particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Typically reports to a supervisor.

ISO/Quality Engineer

 Establish and maintain the Quest For Excellence (QFE) for the specific site.  Ensure compliance to the management system and policies through monitoring and data processing.Processing, follow up and updating QFE Change Requests and representing the mill during cross mill QFE reviews of the company.Advises and assists Departmental Leaders and Employees with QFE reporting, issues and information processing.Ensures documentation is kept up to date, is functional and applied by the employees.Lead the auditing requirements for the mill, ensuring training of internal auditors and engaging external 3rd party auditors.Respond and Manage ?Change Requests? to the management systemConduct management system review and analyses departmental procedures for pertinence and compliance.Establish quality standards and metrics that will apply to products and services (including those provided by suppliers and subcontractors)Administer the Employee Involvement Program, manage backlog and communication channelsWork with the various area leads in the development and maintenance of procedures, forms, records.Training employees on QFE SystemOther duties as assigned by the Mill Manager.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Good interpersonal skills, and written communication

Computer literacy

GPS training

Familiar with ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 requirements

Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative and strong team skills and a demonstrated ability to train others

Excellent attention to detail
