Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator

Rieter Automotive North America, one of the world's leading suppliers of noise control and thermal insulation systems in motor vehicles, is seeking a hands on Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator for our fast paced manufacturing facility in Lowell, Indiana.

 

In close cooperation with automotive manufacturers, Rieter Automotive Systems develops and produces components, modules and integrated systems on the basis of fibers, plastics and metals in order to provide acoustic comfort and thermal insulation in motor vehicles.

 

Essential duties include:

? Administers the Corporate and Plant safety procedures and policies to all employees and outside contractors.

 

? Monitors the company's health and safety standards in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.  Ensures plant legal compliance for all applicable Environmental reporting requirements and maintains all legal documents.

 

? Develops and implements systems to track and evaluate worker injuries.  Investigates accidents, recommends implementation of corrective actions. 

 

? Manages worker?s compensation claim administration.

 

? Develops and facilitates training for workers on issues related to health and safety.

 

? Develops a plant audit plan and conducts timely and appropriate audits.

 

? Coordinates the safety program for location.  This includes managing the Safety Incentive program, conducting accident/fire investigations, conducting safety inspections, maintaining MSDS book, participating in bi-weekly safety meetings and analyzing injury statistics.

 

? Co-Chairs Plant Safety Committee and fosters positive safety attitudes toward Company safety goals.

 

? Responds to safety inquiries regarding policies, procedures and programs.

 

? Develops or provides input to hazardous material communications, including maintaining material data sheets.

 

? Responsible for plant ISO 14001 program and certification requirements.

 

? Responsible for the investigation of any Environmental incident and the implementation of appropriate corrective action.

 


Qualified candidates will have a Bachelors degree in a related discipline, a minimum of 5 years of experience in Safety, Worker?s Compensation Management or Industrial Hygiene in a manufacturing environment, and solid understanding of Federal and State OSHA, EPA laws and regulations.
