Estimating Manager ? Process Equipment Manufacturing
The Position
To support current and new business at our Dallas headquarters, we are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager. The person we hire will supervise and direct the activities of employees engaged in estimating material and labor costs using past sales data, historical cost standards, and based upon practical experience, direct labor time studies and observations, supplier cost data, and sound business judgment. S/he will implement and direct initiatives throughout the department designed to improve performance (i.e., variance analysis, detailed standards, reporting, etc.) and provide routine reporting to Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, Product Management, and other departments to maximize profitability. Additionally, s/he will closely coordinate with Purchasing to effectively facilitate and implement strategic vendor contracts and develop long-term partnerships with high performance suppliers, based on quality, cost, delivery and responsiveness, in accordance with the direction and recommendations of the Manager of Purchasing. The incumbent will also monitor Work-In-Process relative to estimates and established standards for the purpose of validating and improving estimating processes and standards.
Qualifications/Experience
Five (5) years of successful industrial estimating management experience directing activities involving development of product labor and materials cost standards, and job cost estimates in support of product sales proposals, etc.
Diversified estimating experience, including both hard bid and negotiated work. Prior estimating experience specific to steel fabrication is essential. Experience working with subcontracting of pressure vessels and/or industrial steel fabricated products a plus.
Experience conducting/participating in shop floor labor time studies and observations ? and/or working with industrial engineers and plant management to develop labor cost standards for welding and fabrication of industrial steel fabricated products.
Working knowledge of industrial steel fabricators, vendors, and suppliers involving steel plate, pipe, fittings, controls, instrumentation, and other similar commodities used in the oil & gas and energy industries is highly desired.
Demonstrated record of success negotiating contracts and developing strategic alliances in support of business objectives.
Thorough knowledge of most common welding processes used in steel fabrication and ASME Code pressure vessel construction, and engineering standards, ANSI/ASME Code, API Code, NEC, WPS, etc.
Computer literate and proficient with standard business-related software packages (i.e. MSWord, MS Excel, etc.) as well as specific software and database packages relating to Estimating.
Professional degree or equivalent training and experience in an applicable Business or Engineering discipline.
