JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TITLE:  FACTORY FOREMAN?PELL CITY   COMPANY:  GORBEL, INC.

 

REPORTS TO:  Plant Manager      DEPT.:  MANUFACTURING?Pell City

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

 

Under the direction of the Plant Manager, supervises group leaders and employees engaged in daily production operations such as machining, rollforming, assembly, welding, painting, packaging, and shipping.  Collaborates with engineering, purchasing, inventory control, and administration to meet production standards and efficiency goals, and also assists the Plant Manager and Administrative Supervisor with employee morale and personnel related issues.

 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

 

? Supervises all factory group leaders, providing coaching and training on areas of improvement, recognizing their efforts, and providing answers to work related questions.

 

? Provides leadership to all factory personnel, by:

? Leading by example

? Approving or denying all vacations requests

? Authorizing all forms of recognition of $50.00 or less (certificates, etc.)

? Investigating and authorizing all disciplinary action that involves verbal or written warning (Any disciplinary action that involves a leave without pay or termination must be approved by the Plant Manager.)

? Authorizing position changes throughout the factory (Any change in the number of personnel within a department must be approved by the Plant Manager.)

? Developing procedures and policies to ensure good work habits (Any procedures or policies that affect product quality, work hours, and employee morale must be approved by the Plant Manager.)

       

? Maintains the daily production log, by:

? Recording all jobs received from order entry, purchasing, and application engineering.

? Recording the status of all jobs that have been pulled or ship date changed

? Distributing job paperwork to factory personnel

? Verifying that completed jobs are ready to ship

 

? Works with office personnel such as accounting, purchasing, inventory control, and engineering on problem solving or information gathering

 

?  Works with the Safety Committee to develop and enforce safety procedures, conduct safety meetings, perform safety walkthroughs, and work to resolve action items.

 

?  Coordinates with group leaders to purchases shop supplies of less than $500.00 value.

         

? Assists the Plant Manager with primary job functions for the plant manager, such as facilities maintenance, implementation of company policies and procedures, staffing planning, and conducting investigations into safety, performance, or personnel related issues.   

? Develops and implements new or revised controls, procedures and methods for manufacturing improvement.         

? Inspects products and maintains total quality control program.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

? Bachelor?s Degree in Manufacturing/Engineering field with 2 years relevant experience, or high school diploma and 5 years relevant experience.

 

? Ability to use Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and other computer software. 

 

? Ability to communicate in English.         

? Ability to move about the office and factory work stations.         

? Ability to lift 75 pounds.           

? Ability to do essential duties.
