Cymer, Inc. (Cymer) is a supplier of excimer light sources, the light source for deep ultraviolet (DUV) photo-lithography systems. DUV photolithography is an enabling technology that has allowed the semiconductor industry to meet the specifications and manufacturing requirements for volume production of semiconductor chips. The Company's light source systems are incorporated into step-and-repeat (steppers) and step-and-scan (scanners), photo-lithography systems for use in the manufacture of semiconductors with critical feature sizes below 0.35 microns. Its products consist of photo-lithography light source systems, replacement parts and service. The Company maintains a worldwide service organization that supports its installed base of light sources. As of December 31, 2004 this installed base totaled 2,496 light sources.

Postion Summary:

Primarily responsible for field service support of excimer lasers installed at end user sites. Field service support activities include: installation, upgrades, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of excimer lasers installed at semiconductor manufacturing sites.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
? Analyzes, diagnoses and troubleshoots technical equipment problems via telephone, Cymer Online (COL), or at customer site.
? Performs installation, repair and preventive maintenance on equipment installed at customer site.
? Travels as required to support regional field service needs (approx 20% travel required).
? Provides technical training, guidance and assistance to junior field service engineers.
? Completes service and expense reports as required.
? Uses technical documentation and onsite experience to provide feedback for improvement of the documentation and manufacturing processes.
? Maintain an assigned installation equipment base.
? Parts forecasting and customer support meetings as required.
? Ability to work within a team environment.
? Other duties as required or assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS

? Customer skills are a must.
? Ability to analyze complex optical, mechanical and electronic systems.
? Troubleshooting to the module level.
? Ability to follow written procedures and identify abnormal equipment performance.
? Ability to communicate (verbal and written) clearly and effectively.
? Ability to work with minimal supervision.
? Ability to exercise good judgment in the resolution of customer issues
? Ability to effectively use electronic test equipment.
? Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills with empathy and understanding of customer needs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
? Required: BS degree in electronics preferred, or AS with applicable experience
? Required: Advanced technical knowledge in optics, electronics, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
? Required: minimum of 3 years experience in repairing and maintaining similar equipment and interfacing with customers.
? Required: experience providing technical leadership and guidance to others.
