Field Service Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION: 
FMC Technologies, Inc. Automated Systems, a major supplier of automated guided vehicle (AGV) systems to the automotive, newsprint, hospital and consumer products industries, is currently seeking a Field Service Manager.  This position is responsible for planning and coordinating activities related to the installation of AGV systems at customer sites, as well as investigating and resolving customer reports of technical problems with the system.  Responsibilities include:
- Responsible for preparing work schedules of field service and system installation engineers.  Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
- Provides on-site technical assistance to oversee installations and repairs.
- Provide adequate training for personnel.
- Analyzes reports of technical problems to determine trends affecting future design, production, service, and maintenance processes, and recommends modifications to eliminate future problems.
- Reviews performance reports and documentation from customers and field representatives, and inspects malfunctioning or damaged product to determine nature and scope of problem.
- Analyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
- Maintains records of performance reports.
- Prepares service handbooks and bulletins based on field investigations, engineering changes, and overall knowledge of product.

This position is responsible for the direct supervision of 10 to 12 employees in the Field Service Department, and includes such duties as interviewing, hiring, training, manpower planning and scheduling, performance appraisals, rewarding and disciplining, addressing personnel complaints, and resolving problems.




REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: 
Strong managerial and customer service skills and demonstrated experience in these areas are required.  In-depth knowledge of AGV/SGV products and systems is preferred.  Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) as well as good computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Project 98) are required. 




REQUIRED EDUCATION: 
BS in science/engineering is required; MBA or MSE preferred.




COMMENTS: 
Travel is required.
