 Description



We are looking for a qualified candidate that has up to 5 years experience in flue gas treatment (FGT), preferably for reduction of acid gases, in utility and/or industrial plants. The successful individual will be responsible for becoming knowledgeable in all aspects of Carmeuse's magnesium-enhanced lime flue gas desulfurization (MEL-FGD) technology as well as other technologies using lime-based products for flue gas treatment. These processes include lime handling, slaking, dry hydration, solids or slurry injection into gas streams, flue gas scrubbing, oxidation, crystallization, solids dewatering, and filtration. In addition, the successful candidate must be able to work with mathematical models that simulate these operations individually and together in larger processes, to size equipment, and to project capital and operating costs.


Eventually, this individual, in conjunction with the Carmeuse Technical and Sales teams and outside Engineering and Construction groups, will interface with existing and potentially new MEL-FGD customers to address issues related to operations, to upgrade existing systems, and/or to assist with evaluations and process design of new plants. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, working with Carmeuse sales, marketing, and engineering cross functional teams to conduct market studies in promoting Carmeuse FGT products and technologies. This will require good technical and interpersonal skills in preparing and giving presentations to existing and potential new customers. The ability to multi-task and handle multiple technical assignments is a strong requirement for this position.

 Required Skills



The qualified candidate will have:

Engineering Degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent).
Some experience in utility plant or industrial flue gas treatment systems or related field.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to reason and solve problems.
Strong computer skills (particularly in working with spreadsheets and databases), a good understanding of chemical interactions, and strong mathematical skills.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in team environments, to develop procedure manuals, and to conduct training to multi-skill level individuals.
Willingness to travel (both domestic and foreign) to new customer and existing Carmeuse customer facilities on an occasional but steady basis.
Willingness to work with multi-skill levels in an industrial environment.
Authorized to work in the US without requiring a visa sponsorship or transfer.

 Required Experience

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is a college graduate in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) with up to 5 years of flue gas treatment (or related) experience and a desire to work in a dynamic and flexible research and development environment that is involved in lime-based reagents and their application.
