Fruit Production Floor Supervisor

Oversee daily operations of the entire production floor. Area of responsibility is from when the raw product is received to when the finished product is turned over to shipping. 100% presence on the production floor. Develop direct reports to include labor, cost, and yields. Understand economic drivers and reporting status to production manager throughout shift. Be the key safety representative for the production shift. Work closely with QA to insure 100% compliance with food and GMP regulations. Oversee the work of hourly employees and be accountable for employee safety, customer service (internal & external), quality and GMP SOP compliance, productivity, production records, training employees, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Understand AS400 system to interpret and implement the daily production schedule.
- Oversee and manage all FE Fruit & Apple personnel work schedules and day off schedules.
- Obtain and maintain a continual production output of 15,000 lbs/day for fruit and 22,000 lbs/day for McDonald's Apples.
- Obtain less than 3% variance projected yields on all raw products.
- Obtain and maintain no raw product down time of less than 100 minutes per shift across all lines.
- Ensure that mix ratios are followed according to established SOP.
- Ensure that cutting SOPs are followed and refined to minimize the amount of yield loss due to improper trim techniques and/or spillage.
- Maintain a floor presence of 100% of the day to be able to understand the daily production floor issues.
- Continually evaluate and manage headcount to maximize the labor efficiency in the production department. This includes understanding and projecting temp requirements a week in advance.
- Ensure changes that are generated from the MRP group are executed on the floor.
- Perform safety and training tailgates.
- Work with QA and Corporate to perform periodic tests across the production floor.
- Work closely with maintenance to ensure quick response on machinery that is down.
- Work with maintenance to ensure yield issues due to spill points are addressed and solved quickly.
- Ensure all safety accidents are followed up according to FE SOPs.
- Ensure all corrective actions are followed up according to FE SOPs.
Objectives are not limited to the above.
Minimum Qualifications -
College degree BS / BA or equivalent experience. Must have five years of a solid leadership background.
Required to lift 50 pounds (dead lift) and push 350 lbs. Perform other line functions across the production floor. Standing, walking, twisting, repetitive motion, bending, stooping, and pushing of loads up to 350 pounds.
