The Senior Manufacturing Engineer performs work on product and manufacturing engineering projects. Plans, releases, and coordinates implementation of Engineering Change Notices. Reviews drawings from Product Engineering and establishes the most economical process to produce required parts. Ensures the correct processes, tooling and equipment are available to manufacture related parts in-house or at a specified supplier in a safe, quality and cost effective manner.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Receives drawings for new product/product enhancements and ensures proper tooling and processes are developed according to DFT principles. Works with Product Engineering and Sourcing to assure designs are released timely, purchased materials/parts are received and inspected according to schedule, and produced parts are manufactured according to specifications.
-Reviews engineering changes and new product designs, determines cost (materials, labor, and tooling) to purchase and/or manufacture parts, and generates Capital Expense Request.
-Processes Engineering Change Notices (ECNs); reviews drawings for manufacturability. Writes / Updates purchase plans, item master, bill of material, product structures, routings (production work instructions), Sequence of Events (SOE's), manufacturing process specifications, costing standards, and vendor/in-house tool orders. Maintains S-Templates.
-Writes tooling specifications, reviews design, reviews and tests tooling, inspects produced parts, and prepares documentation used to approve tooling for production.
-Determines capital equipment requirements for assigned projects; prepares MER (Major Expenditure Request) and related purchase requisitions and coordinates plant layouts, machine installation and start-up processes, and set up and operation instructions when necessary.
-Conducts supplier surveys; visits supplier to assess capabilities, equipment, tooling and quality and prepares related report.
-Provides processes and equipment that will insure products with the highest level of quality possible. Develops systems that are self-regulating and require minimal subjective analysis.
-Supports ISO and other company standard practices and procedures; creates procedures and work instructions related to processes throughout manufacturing.
-Uses Demand Flow Technology (DFT) principles to identifies and / or implements manufacturing process improvements to assure manufacturing's ability to produce the highest level of safety, quality, and productivity possible.
-Researches and dispositions Non-Conformance Material Reviews (NCMR's); develops, communicates, and coordinates instructions for rework of materials while minimizing cost to company.
-Recommends product / process improvements by initiating Engineering Change Requests (ECR's); implements such improvements immediately through use of the Deviation process.

EDUCATION & KNOWLEDGE STANDARDS:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering. Three years of progressively responsible years experience in a similar manufacturing environment . Knowledge of tooling, dies, machining, welding, and assembly techniques. Knowledge of advanced mathematics including geometry and trigonometry. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications, to review designs and assess cost requirements, and to communicate both orally and in writing. Must acquire the ability to apply company philosophies to all aspects of project management. Must be able to complete major projects with little or no supervision.
