Junior Buyer (Manufacturing, High-volume)

This is a position for a Junior Buyer who will report directly to the Purchasing Manager. This person will support the Commodity Team in establishing and improving the supply base, in selected categories, and in meeting established criteria for material cost and quantity, supplier service, and production requirements.

 

The Junior Buyer will provide cost comparison data, negotiate best price, and maintain document control. This is a new position, as the company is growing. The right person will absolutely have to have proven experience and ability operating independently of supervision.

 

This position will be responsible for ensuring open and direct communications with suppliers regarding cost, quality and delivery expectations. In addition, the Junior Buyer will participate and support in supplier negotiations and document contractual agreements to support enterprise-wide (multiple plants throughout North America) purchasing activities. 

 

An important metric for evaluating the performance and success of the peson in this position will be their contribution to material cost reductions, to achieve or exceed business plan goals. This corporate facility, and the entire national enterprise, are very LEAN implemented, which drives material and inventory priorities.

Bachelors degree in business or manufacturing field;

2 to 5 years experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment;

Purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Compensation range is broad, dependent upon experience.
