Lead Buyer - NPI

Ultra Clean Technology is a developer and supplier of critical subsystems for the semiconductor and capital equipment industry, focusing on gas delivery systems.  We have an immediate need for a Lead Buyer in our Tualatin, Oregon site.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

- Lead new product procurement teams or contribute to project teams for new products as a procurement leader.

- Research and identify new sources for new commodities, and evaluate the capabilities of the new and existing sources.

- Obtain all relevant preliminary information to procure parts, materials, equipment, and services necessary for the operation of an organization.

- May establish cost models for assigned projects; analyze quotations received; select or recommend suppliers with whom orders are to be placed and schedule deliveries to project teams.

- Review more favorable prices and advise appropriate groups as applicable; conduct negotiations as required to implement cost reduction/inventory reductions.

- Select suppliers for optimal results and develop suppliers? capabilities to meet company new product needs.  May participate in quality qualification audits.

- Develop blanket purchase orders, long-term purchase agreements and contracts for production requirements.

- Advise appropriate company personnel on ?make or buy? decisions as they relate to procurement costs and overall performance.

- Estimate costs of new items, usage of standard items and purchase parts costs for new product concepts. 

- This position provides new and varied work situation of high complexity.  Extensive inside and outside contacts will need to be made with limited or no supervision.

- Responsible for transferring the new products to production to the stage of the customer first article acceptance. 

 

Educational/Certification Requirement:

 

- BA/BS degree in business administration, purchasing/management, or engineering, or equivalent experience; MA/MS/MBA preferred.

- Certification in Associate Purchasing Practitioner or Certified Purchasing Manager from ISM, or in Certified Production Control and Inventory Manager from APICS a plus.

 

Qualifications:

 

5+ years procurement and planning experience with working knowledge of quick-turn, engineer-to-order environment.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; engineering drawings reading skills.

Basic leadership and project management skills.

Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with suppliers and internal customers.

Strong PC skills to include Microsoft Office software suites.

Knowledge of Manman or other manufacturing based software system desired.
