Lead Manufacturing Technician

FLIR Systems ? Government Systems Division, the world?s leading supplier of innovative airborne and ground based infrared and visible light imaging systems for military applications, is currently seeking a qualified candidate who will be part of our Portland, OR ? Manufacturing Operations team.

 

The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and leading a diversified group of technicians.  Setting and maintaining schedules and tracking and collecting data.  Able to performing manufacturing operations including set-up and calibration tasks; building and troubleshooting; as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.  Uses sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.  Interface with engineers on process and design issues.  Determines and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process and continued process improvements.  Provide written and verbal updates of schedule and priorities to management.  Work toward continuous improvements establishing process flow, value stream mapping and other manufacturing techniques within defined area.

 

Ideal individual will possess high school diploma or equivalent experience.  AA degree in electronic technology or equivalent training, such as military training preferred. Knowledge of infrared technologies, electro-optical systems, and electronic circuits are a plus. Position requires 5+ yrs technician level experience involving assembly, testing, troubleshooting and prototyping skills also helpful.  Previous supervisory/lead experience a plus. Ability to work in a team environment. Solid communication skills and familiar with MS Office.
