Lean Implementation Manager

Lean Implementation - This position will identify, implement and support the lean manufacturing initiatives in each facility. The focus for this role will be to ensure implementation brings measurable sustainable improvements in all area of the operations including safety, productivity, administration, and employee engagement. This position is expected to drive the ?cultural? approach toward sustained continuous improvements and be able to support the ?technological? approach to continuous improvements.

 

Lean Manufacturing:

? Provide leadership and technical skills for kaizen events and other lean initiatives.

? Identify and / or coordinate lean activities to drive continuous improvements through out the operation.

? Identifies opportunities to implement common processes & best demonstrated practices from other sites and businesses; disseminates and acts upon relevant industry benchmarking data.

? Quantify and track both operational and financial key success measurements for all lean activities. Assures that predicted savings are tracked, validated and posted to the site?s/organization?s operating results

? Follow-up on action plans associated with events to ensure activities are moving forward. Act as a facilitator to ?lead the way? through bottlenecks that are delaying progress.

? Provides leadership, coaching and training in lean thinking and lean production, variation reduction, problem solving & avoidance and People Strategies

? Generate enthusiasm in meeting goals for lean proficiency.

? Provide visible support for and act as a daily ?champion of lean? throughout the facility.

? Develop and maintain updated Value Stream Maps

? Provide guidance on the development of and ongoing coordination of Performance Metrics tracking system.

? Timely communication of updated information regarding key lean metrics.

? Assures that process improvements and benefits employ visual management and that actions are driven to closure and sustained while being made visual to stakeholders



Purchasing ? This position will be responsible for negotiations with and supporting the management of the supply base. A primary focus should also be on driving identified opportunities from Lean activities back through the supply base to maximize improvements.

Purchasing:

? Identify continuous improvements for the supply base from Lean Manufacturing. Develop and implement action plans through negotiations with supply base.

? Achieves purchasing objectives by negotiating purchasing and contracts focusing on achieving strategic plans; preparing and completing action plans; supporting the implementation of production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; supporting problem resolution; completing audits; identifying trends; determining administrative system improvements; implementing change.

? Meets purchasing financial objectives by costing forecasted requirements; furnishing contract expense information for the annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

? Obtains equipment, services, and contracted services by building and maintaining rapport with vendors; managing bids including defining specifications, identifying and qualifying vendors; explaining requirements; studying and evaluating proposals; negotiating price, terms, and licensing agreements; awarding and terminating contracts.
