Lean Implementer position. Reports to Plant Continuous Improvement Manager
Works under general supervision. Follows established procedures. Assists engineers. Knows design(s). Defines and plans own activities for
stand-alone project or pieces of more complex project design. Writes product specifications. Reports project status. Good written & verbal skills.Facilitate cross-functional expert teams to drive breakthrough or Best-in-Class performance in People, Quality, Material Flow, and Cost.Value Stream Analysis (Current and Future State Value Stream Mapping).Collaborate with C.I. Manager to assess the Current state of the plant’s Operations; Develop Future State vision and implementation plan.Drive multifunctional teams.Assist in locating Best-in-Class Operations processes, and then getting them into the plant.Support other C.I. initiatives, including best practice implementation, while striving to improve Business Metrics.Coach team members in understanding Lean principles.Identify and drive to implement model Lean lines/cells, and then extend to whole plant.Assist in the gathering of JCMS Assessment data. Collaborate with C.I. Manager to improve Lean-relevant metrics, including those in the 6 panels.Using standard tracking and reporting systems, will prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and assure timely completion and achievement of product / process quality and savings goals.Collaborate with leadership to develop a plant C.I. Roadmap, bridging business metrics gaps with either: 1. Just Do It improvements, 2. Six Sigma projects, or 3. Lean Implementation projects.Identifies barriers to project success and solicits help from champions when needed.Assist the Continuous Improvement Manager in any strategic initiative that will help in compliance to standards, implementing new systems, and designing creative solutions that will continuously improve the plant.Accountable to impact on Operational Cost.
B.S. degree with a minimum of two years experience. Has demonstrated high level performance in current and previous positions. Has shown initiative, the desire to drive change and is motivated to exceed expectations. Has solid leadership skills and able to manage both vertically and horizontally. Possesses basic statistical knowledge and the ability to apply statistics to product and process improvement projects. Has a solid grasp of manufacturing principles, including Process, Information, and Material flow. Has a solid understanding of lean principles, including: Waste elimination, Pull systems, Kanban, Visual workspace, One piece flow, Flow Production, Set-up reduction, Standardized work, Variation reduction, Error proofing, Total Productive Maintenance, Design for Manufacturing, Ergonomics, Kepner Traego problem solving, and lean replenishment systems including supermarkets, orphanages, buffer calculations, line-side replenishment, I-supply, JTDS, and level loading.Possesses basic computer skills (experience with spreadsheet applications would be very helpful). Has sufficient experience within the Company to be able to understand the organization and its business products and processes. Certification as a Lean Implementer in all JCMS training modules; Preferred certification as Green Belt. Ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written, and presentation skills. Has demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and the ability to exercise influence without authority.
