The Company
Our client is an international natural resource company whose focus is in the mining, smelting, recycling and fabrication of base metals. As North America?s largest integrated lead producer, they employ over 6,000 worldwide and 1,800 in the US. They have 5 facilities located in the state of Missouri with corporate headquarters in St. Louis. With sales of over $800M, they are the largest company in their industry. Subsidiaries are located in Vancouver, Washington, Texas and Arizona. They also have mining, milling and smelting operations in Peru.
The Position
This position is located in Boss, Missouri at our client?s battery recycling division. The successful candidate will work with business leadership and other Lean Masters, Black Belts and Green Belts across the business enterprise to train, communicate, standardize, sustain and facilitate the implementation of Lean Enterprise thinking and principles.
This strategic position will lead operational excellence change initiatives and resources using Lean and Six Sigma tools. Implementing value stream philosophy for the minimization of non-value added activities.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
? Drive value stream philosophy, Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma projects with a focus on continuous improvement within the organization.
? Identifies and respond to customer critical needs, analyzing and prioritizing opportunities for improving business performance through operational excellence.
? Lead teams to establish metrics for value stream performance, Lean and Six Sigma projects and employee success, ensures data collection, documentation, and reporting, and applies statistical tools as well as visual systems to communicate, support, and sustain performance expectations.
? Leads in the design and deployment of kanban systems, total productive maintenance, standard work, kaizen, 5S, scorecard, changeover and other lean methodologies, taking the necessary steps to assure sustainable results.
? Leads in the identification and execution of Lean Enterprise and Six Sigma projects to improve quality, cycle time, and cost, as well as guides others to solve problems and remove barriers to project success.
? Trains, coaches, and certifies employees in the use of Six Sigma tools and Lean principles. Position directly supervises process management team and facilitates lean steering team and other teams.
? Participates in benchmark and best practices activities corporate wide with Lean Enterprise initiatives. Drive the use of clear and concise metrics throughout the facility through the use of lean tools, six sigma methodologies and clearly communicate lean results through the use of data.
The Individual
? Educational requirements are a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Engineering or technical discipline.
? Three to five years of progressive responsibility in a line or staff function of a manufacturing operation, with minimum of three years leadership experience.
? Certification in Lean Enterprise and/or Six Sigma with demonstrated results.
? Demonstrated results towards implementing and improving value streams as part of a systemic, strategic change in manufacturing operations with continuous improvement.
? Proficient with applied statistics, database technology, computerized business systems, and MS Office.
? Passion for training, continuous improvement and coaching skills evident in one on one or group communication and presentations at all levels ? formal training skills preferred.
? Strong track record in leadership, project management, change management, and problem solving.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated success in Lean Enterprise programs and project management skills. The World Class Manufacturing Champion position reports to the General Manager.
