MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR

Our new plant in San Marcos, TX is off to a great start and we continue to grow!  Our new San Marcos facility, the Genlyte Group San Marcos Operations,  has an immediate opening for an experienced Supervisor with a strong manufacturing/production background to supervise our paint department.  Experience in supervising a powder coat paint operation is highly desired but we will consider strong candidates with limited knowledge of a paint operation and provide training in the paint function for a candidate with superior management/supervisory skills with a work history in a manufacturing environment. The Genlyte Group San Marcos Operations services both the Gardco and Wide-Lite Divisions, the industry leaders in the design and manufacture of HID lighting fixtures and controls. 

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The paint supervisor directs the activities of a multi-phase, powder paint coating department, including the direct supervision of paint department personnel in a union environment that includes painters, painter's helpers and material handlers. The incumbent is responsible for obtaining optimum levels of production while at the same time controlling expenses via efficient use of all processes, human resources, materials, equipment and work methods. Provides excellent customer service and ensures their satisfaction by consistently achieving a high level of on-time deliveries, the production of superior quality products, and by coordinating production activities with the fabrication, assembly, customer service and scheduling departments. Essential functions include, but are not limited to:

 Hands-on accountability for the efficient operation of automated powder coating lines (may also include manual spray application) with multiple stages including materials/parts preparation, multi-phase washer, dryer,application of powder paint, and drying/curing ovens.  Maintains a strong knowledge of paint properties and application requirements. Understands and keeps up-to-date on the operational requirements of the various systems and equipment  in the paint department including technical information  provided by the equipment manufacturer. Applies strong supervisory abilities to balance and achieve positive results in the areas of safety, quality,productivity, and employee morale. Implements and maintains systems, equipment, processes, and management of quality program to conform to mandated ISO 9001:2000 requirements. Maintains a good knowledge of all OSHA standards applicable to area(s) of responsibility and promotes a safe work environment .
