METAL Purchaser/Buyer

Spherion is seeking an experienced Purchaser/Buyer of Metal Fabricated parts for a temp-to-hire position with a company located in Northern York County.

 

Job Purpose:
Maintains production schedule by planning purchases; identifying suppliers; obtaining materials and supplies; arranging delivery.

 

Candidates must have:
2-3 years of experience in buying metal fabricated parts (sheet metal,
machine shop, plating, etc...).  Experience with Asia a plus.
Ability to read and analyze a blue print for complexity and cost
implications.
Knowledge of various grades of metals and materials.
Knowledge of MRP systems, purchasing and BOMs
Good PC skills,  Word, XL, etc...
Negotiating skills.


Duties:
* Plans purchases by reviewing materials and supplies requirements from plan package, contracts, and change orders.
* Obtains quotes by forwarding materials and supplies requirements to supplier; evaluating alternative materials and supplies.
* Places orders by negotiating price, terms, and delivery of materials and supplies.
* Improves quality results by analyzing materials, supplies, and vendor reliability; recommending changes.
* Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Supply Management, Tracking Budget Expenses, Vendor Relationships, Planning, Customer Service, Quality Focus, Inventory Control, Productivity, Judgment, Attention to Detail, PC Skills (Word, Excel, etc) 

 

Starting salary Range is $12 to $17 per hr, depending on experence.
