MGR PRODUCTION

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Supervises and directs the personnel, operations, and budget of Raleigh's production facility to safely produce quality products within the guidelines established by Federal and local agencies, as well as internal policies.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Manages operation of production facility to meet or exceed product cost standards.
2. Ensures the facility operates in accordance with all guidelines.
3. Reviews controlled documents and MOCAs, approves for implementation.
4. Performs administrative duties, oversees site operations in absence of Plant Manager.
5. Maintains good personnel relations.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/ OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
1. Manages operation of production facility in such a manner as to meet or exceed product cost standards through the control of burden absorption, labor/product ratios, and product quality.
2. Ensures that the facility operates in accordance with guidelines established by Federal and local agencies relating to EPA, RCRA, EEOL, GSHA, OSHA, and GMP.
3. Directs Plant operations in accordance with established Health and Safety standards, and actively participates in all "Process and Safety Audits".
4. Directs Plant operations to conform to the ICH Q7A standard for quality.
5. Develops the Plants indirect cost budget and appropriates expenditures to assure adherence to this budget.
6. Assists Marketing and Plant management in process scheduling for current and proposed production runs. .
7. Reviews Corporate Engineering plans and drawings for equipment changes or additions, and subsequently approves project scopes.
8. Reviews controlled documents and MOCAs and approves for implementation.
9 Coordinates and institutes operational cost reduction ideas identified by Plant personnel within the guidelines of the established Plant-wide program.
10. Encourages good personnel relations and prescribes appropriate discipline to help maintain a non-union workforce. Interviews and assesses new applicants for job.
11. Implements programs of formal training or personal instruction for continual development of Plant personnel. Conducts and/or reviews for continual development all performance appraisals within Plant operations.
12. Coordinates Plant operations with Environmental department status to maximize waste treatment plant operations.
13. Reviews and approves cost estimates developed for new processes, or expansions and improvements of existing processes.
14. Performs administrative duties as requested by the Plant Manager including overseeing of site operations in his absence.
15. Advises upper level management as to operational status and future needs.
16. Serves as a member of various employee involvement teams and committees to improve the workplace, increase efficiently, and improve productivity.


Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education required/ preferred: Position requires extensive chemical plant manufacturing experience in addition to a BS degree in Engineering or a related technical field.


Experience: Must have experience in evaluating process parameters, troubleshooting problem areas, and determining new process applicability to Plant equipment. Requires complete familiarity with Plant equipment and its operation, as well as new equipment technology. Necessitates knowledge of current legislation by Federal and local agencies (e.g. FDA, OSHA, ATF, etc.) and their impact on Plant operations. Budget design and control requires a full comprehension of process variation costs and operational expenses. Knowledge of support groups' operational policy and function is essential in optimizing production capabilities.
