Machine Repair Specialist – 3rd Shift

Specific Responsibilities:

 

1.  Inspect, test, adjust, maintain, and repair all physical plant mechanical machinery.

2.  Complete necessary departmental documentation to support a preventive maintenance program to maintain production machinery and equipment in proper working conditions. Perform machine maintenance according to this program. 

3.  Requires some knowledge in the use of power tools including lathes, grinders, and mills.

4.  Interface with other departments to ensure timely completion of repairs and routine maintenance to minimize downtime and increase productivity.

5.  Jointly responsible for the equipment, safety and overall operation of the department.

6.  Recommend to supervisor equipment, mechanical, and procedural changes to improve production efficiency and to achieve cost reduction.

7.  Develop monthly reports for supervisor conveying machine repair status and projected maintenance.

8.  Maintain machine logs which track the run-time of each machine where applicable.

9.  Ensure that machine parts necessary to perform duties are on hand by periodically checking crib inventory stock levels, where applicable.

10. Performs duties and responsibilities as described in the quality system.

11. Perform other job-related functions as may be required by supervisor.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

 

? Ability to detect defects in equipment used in the trades involved.

? Ability to interpret and work from blueprints, machine prints, electrical prints, pencil sketches and diagrams, pneumatic schematics and hydraulic schematics.

? Ability to plan, schedule and coordinate work and initiate improvements in operation.

? Ability to respond in emergency situations involving machine operations and clearly evaluate problems under pressure.

? Good oral communication skills needed to relate to various internal customers and vendors.

? Skill in the care and use of the tools and equipment used in the trades involved.

? Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and practices used in the machine maintenance trade.

? Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the trades involved.

? Skills or experience with personal computers.

? Ability to be self motivated and work independently.

? High school diploma or equivalent required

? Associate?s degree in related technical field preferred

? Solid math skills - normally associated with the completion of high school math sequence

? 2-5 years experience in machine maintenance work or in related trade preferred

? Must have ability to consistently lift 10 pounds, and occasionally 50 pounds.
