Maintenace Mechanic Level I or Level II
Amerimax Building Products, a division of Euramax International, a leading manufacturer for the housing and recreational vehicle industries and a Goldman Sachs owned company, has an immediate opening for MAINTENACE MECHANIC LEVEL I OR LEVEL II. The person will be based out of the company's manufacturing facility in Anaheim, CA.
SUMMARY
Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment. Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to accomplish each essential duty satisfactorily while maintaining regular and dependable attendance. Other duties may be assigned.
Observes mechanical devices in operation and functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments of functional parts or control instruments, relocation, or replacement through use of testing equipment or by listening to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
Weld together metal components of products or steel structural members, such as pipelines, boilers, machines with electric arc-welding equipment.
Lubricates and cleans parts.
Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make, replace or repair defective parts.
Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit.
Perform general troubleshooting of electrical devices to determine cause of failure.
Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
Start devices to test their performance, such as continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.
Participates in the Lean Six Sigma process by volunteering for LSS projects, and participates in the Company's safety program by following all safety regulations.
Acts as a team player to assist with projects for other departments within the Company, as requested.

The Maintenance Level II is only reached after five (5) or more years of successful performance as a Maintenance Level I. Internal applicants must have the successful performance documented in all of the associated performance appraisals.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Must have the ability to effectively use and interpret blueprints and schematics, and use various standard and electronic measurement/power tools. The candidate selected must have had vocational training and on-the-job mechanical and electrical application of that training.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Competent verbal and some written skills are required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
The candidate selected must have advanced math skills.
REASONING ABILITY
Able to work independently and with some direction on complex assignments
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Forklift certification and vocational degree are preferred.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to speak and hear in loud environments while wearing hearing protection. The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands and fingers, handle, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must be physically fit to perform most of their activities, which involves lifting, stooping, bending, reaching, and crawling into tight spaces. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; steel-toed safety shoes and other safety equipment and precautions, such as lock out tag out are required, and safety is of the utmost importance. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud; hearing protection is required. We offer competitive pay of $16.00 to $20.00 per hour depending on experience, skills and/or education.
