Maintenance Technician - 60945

Position Description: This positions primary responsibility is to maintain all conveyor and building systems in order to support the goals of the DC. Secondary responsibility is to maintain rolling stock assets. A thorough understanding of mechanical, electrical and operational controls associated with the conveyor systems and building equipment and components is required in order to maintain assets in a quality fashion. The job scope includes recommending changes to and executing preventative maintenance programs and repairs to automated sorting equipment, associated conveyors, material handling equipment, building envelope and building MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing) systems. This position will be responsible for properly completing work requests as well as projects of a complex nature.


Position Requirements:

q Minimum of 3 years of building and equipment maintenance experience with experience maintaining Rapistan or similar type conveyor systems, HVAC and/or electrical/electronics.
q Preferred competency in electricity, electronics, welding, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
q Demonstrated experience using electrical test equipment, hand tools, power tools, calipers, gauges, etc.
q Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting MEP (Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing) drawings and schematics.
q Experience operating material handling and lift equipment.
q Ability to grasp, bend, lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis and work at heights and in unusual positions.
q High school diploma or equivalent.



Position Attributes:

q Performs routine preventative maintenance on building systems such as fire protection, building life safety, security, HVAC equipment, dock equipment, building envelope, conveyor systems, and storage racks to maximize the useful life of the facility assets.
q Trouble shoots and repairs the mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and control system components of conveyor systems and building components.
q Operates, trouble shoots and resolves problems associated with computer controlled building systems, conveyor systems, and maintenance management systems.
q Assists with developing preventative maintenance programs as appropriate. Recommends improvements to existing preventative maintenance programs.
q Performs light carpentry, plumbing, welding, mechanical and electrical work.
q Ability to utilize the MP2 computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to get work assignments to repair, replace, or remove equipment, fixtures, or furniture.
q Could attend outside training relating to conveyor operations (RSC, PLC, RapidRoute) and building operating systems.
q Coordinates multiple tasks to meet warehouse operation needs.
q Follows safe work practices.
q Follows directions with attention to detail and record keeping.
q Adjusts to changes in priorities, and flexible to respond to on-call emergencies.
q Performs problem resolution for complex problems and utilizes efficient work practices.
q Prioritizes own workload.
q Cross trains and provides guidance to less experienced employees.

q Familiar with Symbol RF technology and Pick LP and how they are used in a Distribution Center environment.
q Works independently on projects and work assignments.
q Monitors work of contractors and service providers.
q Operates all material handling and mobile equipment within the Distribution Center.
q Performs work requests and projects as assigned.
q Ability to learn and enthusiastic about learning new things.
