Manufacturing/Operations Engineer

Fast growing (>50% annually) high-end, custom wood products manufacturer with established national distribution has a newly created position for an experienced manufacturing/operations engineer.

 

The successful candidate will have the experience and motivation to take charge of manufacturing and plant facility and continuously re-invent processes to accommodate the growth and maintain competitive advantage.  There is a career growth path to Plant/General manager for the right person.

 

Job Purpose:

 

Develop and continually improve "best practices" manufacturing processes through analysis and refinement of manufacturing processes and techniques.


Duties:

 

* Evaluate manufacturing processes by measuring human and machine capacities and applying knowledge of product requirements, fabrication constraints, process flows, tooling, and materials.


 

* Develop manufacturing processes by understanding product requirements and designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment.

 

* Use developed manufacturing processes to continually improve cycle time and inventory turns.

 

* Improve manufacturing efficiency by continually analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout. 


 

* Assure product and process quality by designing feedback loops,  testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards and accountability; and confirming and re-confirming manufacturing processes.

* Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.


* Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.


* Maintain product and process data base by managing implementing recently purchased shop floor tracking and inventory systems. 


* Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


Education:

 

BS in Industrial Engineering,  MBA useful

 

Experience

 

4-8 years experience in job-shop type manufacturing, preferably in wood products industry.  l


 

Skills/Qualifications:

 

High level computer skills in MS applications

Dealing with Complexity and Rapid Grown

Communication Skills 

Leadership, Supervision,

Manufacturing Methods and Procedures,

Manufacturing Quality,

Knowledge of CAD, CAD/CAM Systems

 

Compensation

 

$50,000 to $70,000 per year based on experience and wood products background.  The successful hire can be assured of a substantial upside bonus if goals are achieved.
