Basler Electric, serving the world market with power systems, control devices, and magnetic products for the past 64 years, is currently searching for an Mechaincal Designer. This position will be located at our Corporate Headquarters in Highland, Illinois (approximately 30 miles east of St. Louis, MO).

 

 

JOB SUMMARY:  With assistance investigates and procures all data required to develop a design as assigned.  Employs the best combination of preliminary information and contributing data to develop final designs on complex electronic products.  Refers to concept sketches, verbal and/or written instructions and schematics.  Sometimes totally handles average to complex designs from concept completion 

 

REPORTS TO:  Mechanical Engineering Manager

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Implement electro-mechanical design concept assigned by Project Design Engineer (coordinates with Project Design Engineer and assigned Electrical Engineer as required. Create scaled layouts of design concepts. Assist in component selection when required.  Handle mechanical engineering responsibilities for design reviews. Supervise Jr. personnel assigned to work on the particular job or project Make sure all documentation is complete, checked, and approved for manufacture.  Works with Industrial Engineering to get punch and route sheets completed in accordance with required release schedule. Act as Mechanical Engineering representative in discussions with customers  Assist in training and upgrading assigned personnel for greater responsibility. Handle the total coordination of requested changes required on previously. designed equipment as assigned by Engineering Manager. Research and write ECO's and change drawings as required.  Complete drafting job when necessary. Determine Mechanical Engineering portion of quotes.  Determine personnel workload requirements for particular jobs or projects. 

 

 REQUIREMENTS: Associate Degree in Mechanical Drafting or equivalent degree.  Two to four years layout experience or four years Junior Mechanical Designer experience. Travel as required for training, support of project tasks, product issues, or other design or job related needs.Performs other duties as assigned.
