Mechanical Service Technician-IL,IN,WI,OH
JOB DESCRIPTION:
? Perform service on caustic/steam peeling systems, peach pitting, pear coring, and sterilization equipment that are manufactured, sold and/or leased by FMC.
? Final inspection, installation, and commissioning of new and/or rebuilt FMC processing equipment.
? Self-starter requiring a minimum amount of supervision and the ability to maintain a professional appearance and conduct both on and off job.
? Ability to maintain and troubleshoot instrumentation and motor controls.
? Maintain good physical fitness required to conduct work in small confined spaces associated with entry and work on all FMC product lines.
? Generate timely and accurate service call reports and report problem areas or needed improvements on all FMC equipment. (Corrective Action requests)
? Answer inquiries concerning equipment and forward inquires to the proper people in the FMC organization.
? Instruct operators, mechanics, and fellow employees on the safe operation and maintenance of FMC equipment.
? Promote repair parts sales.
? Make goodwill calls on customers as directed and keep customers informed of product update kits on improved operation and safety.
? Pass on information relating to customer and/or competitor intelligence.
? Appear clean and moderately well dressed when meeting customers.
? Work with the scheduler on preparing field repair/installation quotes and assists with presentations to customers as required.
? Work closely with the Service Manager to coordinate and maintain field inventory of in-field support parts by customer location. Inventory to be conducted annually but kept current at all times.
? Adhere to FMC?s operating policies and Code of Ethics. This includes compliance of FMC?s confined space entry and rescue procedures.
? Generate service and technical reports associated with FMC equipment as required.
? Valid drivers license must be maintained at all times.
? Occasional lifting of heavy objects (50lbs), squatting, prolonged standing, and working at heights of up to 100?.
? May perform other duties as assigned.
? Occasional work environments with temperatures of 0 to 110 deg F.
? Must be willing to any shift and overtime.
Occasional Duties
? Take inventory of repair parts on hand.
? Lead or assist in the coordination of overhauls and field repairs.
? Make service trips to territories other than one assigned (to include international assignments up to 6 weeks as required).
? Assist in conducting training schools on equipment.
? Assist salesmen in promotion of FMC equipment.
? Lead or assist in the planning and supervision of sub-contract labor.
? Train new service personnel as required.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
? Strong mechanical backgrounds with minimum of 5 year?s experience on fabrication or service of peeling or processing equipment.
? Ability to understand customer?s problems and provide the necessary assistance as required.
? Ability to communicate well and interface with customers.
? Ability to follow orders and instructions.
? Knowledge to read and understand drawings, blueprints, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical assemblies.
? Knowledge and previously demonstrated skills in the basic principles of machine assembly, light fabrication, welding, machine tool operation, and electrical wiring.
? Knowledge of process control systems to include control and measurement of steam, water, and air.
? Good working knowledge of industrial mechanical skills to perform testing, troubleshooting, training, and installation assistance for food processing equipment systems.
? Knowledge of industrial control systems, loop controllers, control valves, level probes, RTD?s preferred.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Technicial degree or history of food equipment experience required.
COMMENTS:
Position is based in IL, IN, WI and OH and report to FMC FoodTech, Madera, CA. Travel to various customers? sites inside and outside the U.S. is required
