Mechanical Technician II


Description: In an industrial or shipyard environment, perform layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of mechanical components, apparatus, and equipment. Sets up and operates equipment test apparatus and diagnostic devices. Requires thorough knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques used in fabrication of mechanical components. Knowledge of sheet metal product fabrication a plus. Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings. Current security clearance is preferred. The ability to obtain a security clearance is mandatory.

Typically requires 2-5 or more years of related experience; Requires a High School Diploma or GED; Technical or Vocational training preferred. May require some physical handling of light to moderately heavy materials, boxes or equipment (up to 50lbs.). Proper safety precautions required. Travel to shipyards and client sites may be required. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to operate related tools and equipment; Knowledge of machining, shop mathematics, metal properties and layout and machine procedures.
