Molding Supervisor

Automotive business unit of a $500M privately held manufacturer headquartered in the Midwest seeks a Molding Supervisor.  With revenues over $330M, the automotive business is a leader in its industry.  Products include value-added injection molded plastic products requiring molding, plating, painting, various other decorating processes, and assembly operations.  Manufacturing and distribution facilities are located throughout the United States and Asia.

 

POSITION

 

The Mold Supervisor will have overall responsibility of planning, organizing, and coordinating plant molding activities.  The position reports directly to the Mold Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES

 Responsible for training operators, developing their product knowledge, and improving work habits.Assist Plant Engineer and Quality Control with the preparation of samples, ISIR parts, and providing sample test data to Engineering for submissions.Determine the best molding process and create master process sheets to be used as the standard during trouble shooting activities.Work with Engineering on tool designs in order to achieve optimum cycles and quality parts.Coordinate and schedule molds through the tool shop when repairs, preventive maintenance, and engineering changes are necessary.  Monitor the tool shop on duration of all such repairs, preventive maintenance, and engineering changes.Work toward the elimination of scrap by properly evaluating the causes.Be familiar with quality standards; give direction to employees on quality standards; and aid the Quality Department when needed.Develop and implement new and/or improved systems and procedures.

REQUIREMENTS

 Leadership Style: Self-starter must be able to work with little direction and with high level of self-motivation. Must be able to work on own initiative and work well in a group.Strong knowledge of plastic injection molding and tooling.Knowledge of and ability to manage department budget costs.Ability to create and achieve department goals and objectives while working toward the achievement of the corporation?s goalsStrong verbal and written communication skills a must.  Bachelor?s degree in related fieldQualified candidates will have 5-8 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
