Non Destructive Testing (NDT) Level III Technician (FP06-QA-06)

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Basic Purpose:  This position requires the selection and evaluation(s) of results of all NDT (Non Destructive Testing) methods.  The Level III will train, coach and facilitate individuals and groups in various quality NDT evaluations.  In addition to supporting the NDT inspection staff, the Level III will be required to provide technical expertise to engineering to ensure utilization of cost effective and efficient NDT processes to satisfy customer requirements as well as company objectives.  Acts as the company?s NDT Level III when designated.   In addition this person will be the focal point for TACOM/DCMA, customer audits and certification(s) for NDT. This position reports directly to the Quality Weld Engineer.

Principal Responsibilities:  Prepares and initiates techniques and methods to ensure compliance to company NDT specifications and customer requirements.  Provide direct technical support, direction and interpretation to all NDT and Inspection personnel.  Prepare documents and procedures to control all aspects of the NDT processes to meet all requirements of company specifications and customer requirements along with industry standards.  Evaluates and renders final interpretations on issues related to NDT processes, methods and techniques.  Prepare and perform NDT and training to personnel to meet qualification and certification requirements and to comply with all industry requirements.  Act as responsible Level III for the company when designated.  Prepare and perm all NDT examinations for the qualification and certification of NDT Personnel.  Prepare and perform NDT and audits for both internal and external requirements.  Determines and specifies the correct methods and procedures utilized by Inspection personnel also able to identify ?incorrect? methods and procedures.  Interfaces with customers on technical issues concerning NDT processes and evaluations, along with all test and compliance methods, specifications or procedures.  Acts as the focal point for all NDT process audits and corrective actions.  Establish and maintain NDT equipment preventative maintenance requirements.  Develops capital equipment plans for the purchasing and up-grade of NDT equipment.  Perform welder qualification testing and interfaces with material testing labs.



 



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  Ten years experience and certification with UT, MT and PT NDT method.

 





SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE:

Must be able to certify to ASNT Level III in accordance with Recommended Practice No. SNT-TC-1A for the Ultrasonic, Liquid Penetrate and Magnetic Particle method and have the ability to evaluate contracts, specifications, procedures and techniques to manufacturing operations.  UT Shearwave experience.  Past certification to SNT-TC-1A Level II for the UT, MT and PT method.
