Operations Manager for Industry Leader

Corn Products International, marking its 100th anniversary in 2006, is one of the world's largest corn refiners and a major supplier of high-quality food ingredients and industrial products derived from the wet milling and processing of corn and other starch-based materials. The Company is the number-one worldwide producer of dextrose and a leading regional producer of starch, high fructose corn syrup and glucose.

 

We currently have a challenging opportunity for an Operations Manager to manage all operations and logistics functions at our Stockton, California Plant. 

 

Overall, this individual will establish plans and lead employees to meet all safety, regulatory, quality, cost and production goals.  Provide leadership and coaching to develop direct reports and their organizations.

 

Key Result Areas:

 

Safety & Regulatory ? Ensure employees have appropriate resources in order to perform their jobs safely.  Set expectations and hold employees accountable for following safe work practices.  Ensure compliance to regulatory guidelines for the plant. 

 

Coordinate Key Plant Activities ? Oversee daily operations in the plant to achieve specified target and plant goals.  Troubleshoot and provide expertise as needed, when unplanned situations arise.  Ensure plans are in place to resolve longer term safety, regulatory, quality, cost or production issues.  Coordinate Plant Manager responsibilities during absences.

 

Communication ? Appropriately disseminate information to help plant employees and management staff to make good operating and business decisions.  Ensure methods are in place to effectively communicate goals, issues, and improvement opportunities.

 

Develop and Coach Employees ? Assist direct reports with appropriate coaching in order to build their skills and decision making process.  Complete effective performance appraisals for direct reports and give proper feedback.  Review operations and logistics non-exempt performance appraisals to ensure effectiveness of performance.  Present classroom training to groups and recommend outside training as needed.

 

Selection Criteria:

 Demonstrated ability to challenge traditional methods of accomplishing tasks or work activities.  Able to identify and implement creative, innovative solutions.Proven ability to lead and facilitate in a team environment and build consensus in a positive manner with customers and team members.Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills.  Proficiency in setting priorities and executing multiple assignments in a timely and efficient manner.Demonstrated ability to lead change and coach a large group of diverse employees to improve individual performance and overall plant performance.Demonstrated strong written an verbal communication skillsExperience in conducting internal investigations and demonstrated ability to reach conclusions and determine necessary actions.Proficient in working with spreadsheets, word processing, and other work related databases.Bachelor?s degree or equivalent experience in plant operations.  Thorough knowledge of the Corn Wet Milling and Logistics processes is preferred.
