Operator Technician

The Arroyo Cluster, West Virginia, is one of the largest pipeline/merchant facilities that BOC owns in the US. The facility operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week. BOC operates Air Separation Units (ASU?s) which separate air into its components by fractal distillation. These gases are then either compressed for pipeline supply or liquefied for merchant deliveries.

 

We have an exciting and challenging opportunity for an Operator Technician, located in the Arroyo Cluster, WV.

 

Position Description:

The Operator Technician will be trained as an Assistant Operator Technician, Operator Technician, and On-site Support Technician. This position will be responsible for vacation relief. The Operator Technician will also be assigned to on-site plants and other projects. This position is a full time position and is required to be on-call; a pager and cell phone will be provided.

 

As a Plant Operator Technician, you will be in the control room monitoring no fewer than 11 PC screens to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the process. You will conduct and supervise plant start-ups and shutdowns. You will be required to trouble shoot and correct problems.

 

As an Assistant Operator Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring of the process equipment. You will conduct routine inspections, recording equipment operating parameters and looking for deficiencies. You will be responsible for the safe start-up and shut down of equipment.

 

As an On-site Support Technician, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of small process plants. You will be required to travel to the on-site plant to monitor site performance, conduct routine preventive maintenance, and perform corrective maintenance. You will be required to start-up and shut down these units.

 

Position Requirements:

High School Graduate a must. Technical school training in electronics, electrical or mechanical systems a plus. Military experience in a technical rating like cryogenics or nuclear power is a plus. Minimum 5 years experience in an industrial environment a must.

 

Experience operating distillation columns, complex processes, boilers and industrial machinery to include compressors, pumps, cooling water towers, refrigeration equipment and valves.
