Operator Technician C

CITY: Tiverton STATE: Rhode Island COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
Hands-on responsibility to operate, monitor chemistry, and perform routine maintenance on ZWDS along with general plant maintenance tasks.


Plant shift operations including local starting and stopping of equipment performing basics water chemistry testing.

Maintain shift operating logs and records.

Schedule and coordinate ZWDS outages and maintenance.

Read and record gauges and meters.

Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, inspections and trouble shooting as assigned.

Assist in the development of standard operational procedures.

Perform overhaul maintenance and system improvement tasks as assigned.

Participate in all safety related training.

Participate in plant operator training program.

Participate in Tiverton Power respiratory Protection Program.

Implement safe working practices, identify hazards and take corrective actions as approved.

Handle, transfer and receive bulk chemicals deliveries.

Perform chemical analysis and chemical control on steam, cooling, and condensate systems. Maintain chemistry logs.

Maintain plant security.

Operate heavy equipment such as man lift and forklift.

Recommend plant betterment items to improve overall plant efficiency, reliability, and safety.

Handle inert and explosive gas (H2, N2, O2, acetylene, NH3, CO2, ).

Perform other duties as assigned.

Work in a group or team environment.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Candidates shall have experience with the operation and maintenance of Zero Liquid Discharge systems of the brine concentrator and spray dryer type.

Candidates shall be familiar with operation of high voltage switchgear in the range of 480V- 115,000 volts.

High school graduate, trade school, military service, technical training schools or Maritime Academy graduates. Additional professional training preferred.

Minimum of two years experience in industrial facilities such as power generation or process plants. Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems preferred.

A candidate with DCS (distributed control system) and GE Mark V gas turbine control systems or equivalent system is desirable.

Desired:

Candidates with 2 years of power plant experience in the operation of industrial (FRAME) gas turbines of dry low-NOx design and heat recovery steam generators of multiple pressure design and selective catalytic reduction.

Candidates with 2 years experience in a combined cycle operating plant with preference to the operation of GE Steam Turbines of the A10 are desirable.

Knowledge of the kinds and types of equipment installed derived through a combination of hands-on experience and formal training performed in the manufacturer's factory and/or at the job site.

Demonstrated ability to respond calmly and think clearly in emergency situations.

Demonstrate skills in the use of tools, test equipment and calibration appliances.

Strong mechanical aptitude, basic understanding of chemistry, physics, electricity and mathematics.

Must be able to visually read and respond to computer-generated data, instrumentation, gauges, readouts and variations in color.

Must have manual dexterity required to operate keyboards, pushbuttons, dials, valves and mechanical-actuating devices.

Must have a valid driver's license.

Must possess initiative, self-motivation and integrity and willingness to work shift and overtime.
