YOPLAIT COLOMBO GENERAL MILLS/ METHUEN MASS HAS A OPENING FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITION:

PACKAGING TEAM LEADER II

 

Accountabilities:

?  Serve as a focal resource for operators in the areas of Processing, Packing, Maintenance, Quality, and Distribution.  Get the appropriate resources involved when issues arise.  Continually provide support and directions to all employees.

?  Build relationships with floor employees.  Educate them on plant objectives.  Communicate critical business information to them on a daily business.  Exhibit behavior that demonstrates commitment to these plant goals. 

?  Handle employee issues as they arise.  Administer discipline when appropriate.  Respond to employee concerns in a timely manner. 

?  Maximize shift output without compromising safety and quality.

?  Consistently enforce GMP?s/PPE?s and other plant policies.

?  Promote a completely safe environment.  Aim to prevent accidents before they happen.  Advocate that safety is everyone?s responsibility.  Be intimately involved in accident investigations. 

?  Promote Total Quality.  Work with Quality Control to initiate hold orders when necessary.  Perform the appropriate follow-up to determine root cause.

?  Understand the basics of product scheduling.  Work with Distribution to ensure that all orders are filled in a timely manner.

?  Develop direct reports (Packaging Team Leader Assistants).  Set clear expectations for these salaried personnel and hold them accountable.  Communicate relevant business information to them.  Administer IDPs and Performance Appraisals.

?  Constantly assess shift needs in order to get to the next level.  This includes staffing needs, training needs, etc? Be part of continuous improvement objectives.

 

?  Understand the financial basics of the plant.  Manage shift labor budget as appropriate.  Set appropriate expectations with people schedulers.  Work to eliminate ingredient overuse and BOD issues. 

 

 

Qualifications:

?  BS/BA college degree (engineering/science preferred) or equivalent manufacturing experience

?  Willing to work off-shifts and weekends

?  Demonstrated ability to lead in a work environment in transition to higher performance

?  Demonstrated understanding of technology, i.e. complexities of products, machinery, and costs

?  Strong conceptual skills and ability to implement change

?  Clear standards of personal integrity, business ethics and values

?  Excellent interpersonal, communications and listening skills

?  Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity, and change

?  Good analytical and business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
