Plant Engineer

Lincoln, NE

SUMMARY:

 

To continually assist production to meet requirements and/or extend capacity of workloads.

WAGE TYPE:  Salaried Exempt

FLSA Exemption: Administrative Exemption



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.



 Continuously improve preventative maintenance on production equipment plant wide based on equipment downtime.

 

 Identify frequent failure items and improve where cost effective

 

 Identify and improve equipment and systems where failures contribute to quality issues.

 

 Insure that systems are in place to address unplanned down time issues in the most expedient manner possible.

 

 Manage departmental expenses within budget.

 

 Facilitate the maintenance/production relationship using a positive customer service approach.

 

 Develop and facilitate maintenance training specific to our maintenance applications.

 

 Review all safety and housekeeping audits and find permanent solutions where possible

 

 Develop contractor and vendor relationships.

 

 Manage all major production and facility expansion projects to include:

 

o  Initial Design

 

o  Quoting

 

o  Planning and communication

 

o  Contractor and Maintenance department supervision

 

o  Post project review

 



ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:

 

 Reports to:  Maintenance Area Leader

 

 Supervises: 

 

o  Maintenance Data Clerk

 

o  Engineering Intern

 

o  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization?s policies and applicable laws

 

o  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.



QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be substituted for the expected levels of education and experience required.



Education and/or Experience:

 

Expected:  Bachelor?s degree from a four-year college or university; or five to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience



Communication Skills:

 

 Must be able to read, write and comprehend the English language.

 

 Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.



Other Skills:

 

 Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

 

 Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.



Physical Requirements:

 

 Corrected vision and dexterous use of both hands.

 

 Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
