*PURCHASING AGENT (Automotive, Mechanical)

Be responsible for all aspects of corporate purchasing within your assigned mechanical commodity fields. Develop vendors; manage supply resources; negotiate price, quality and service, drive innovation and value analysis cost savings.


Responsibilities
? Complete Supplier analysis in order to acquire the best suppliers and to guarantee an optimum supply chain
? Assists in the development, communication and deployment of procurement policies, guidelines and tools to ensure optimal processes
? Develop, Implement, and manage commodity strategy including global opportunities, negotiation of supply agreement, and rationalization of the supply base
? Drive continuous improvement in the supply base in support of business objectives
? Negotiate and issue purchase agreements and blanket purchase orders that leverage corporate volume ensuring customer service, quality,price,and delivery that meets or exceeds expectations
? Develop leveraged sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings goals
? Keep abreast of industry developments within assigned commodities
? Identify and develop alternate sources of supply for key parts and materials
? Maintain knowledge of and inform other departments of new developments in material, equipment and techniques
? Participate in value engineering projects
? Obtains materials from suppliers at the lowest cost consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of sources, and urgency of need.
? Study and communicate market trends.
? Employs cost reduction and effective procurement techniques with emphasis on leverage buying, negotiation and competitive source development
? Works to ensure this company is developing or has the preferred position with suppliers
? Determines the need and opportunity for change and develops strategies and tactics to improve those conditions to corporate advantage
? Seeks out alternatives when faced with a sole source or limited source of suppliers.
? Uses a variety of persuasion techniques. Understands the principals of negotiation competence and the structure of negotiations

Requirements:
? BS/BA Degree (MBA a plus)
? 5-8 years experience with progressively more responsible work experience in a sourcing role
? CPM/CPIM a plus
? Proven Cost Containment/cost reduction goals met
? Excellent analytical and negotiation skills with ability to multi task
? Strong goal attainment orientation with team focus
? Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
? Ability to define strategic plans/concepts as well as execute daily tasks
? Willing to travel
