Pattern & Tooling Maker
* Develops layout by planning sequence of operations; studying engineering data, sketches, and blueprints; applying knowledge of material-forming properties and practices.
* Forms frame by fabricating parts; locating and aligning skeleton and master contour templates with precision measuring instruments.
* Forms pattern by placing forming substance over frame; finishing shape to peripheral dimensions.
* Verifies finished dimensions by measuring pattern.
* Establishes references by scribing points and lines.
* Resolves forming problems by altering process to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
* Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; and calling for repairs.
* Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
* Documents actions by completing logs; recording changes on engineering drawings.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
* Develops tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or hand tools by studying blueprints, sketches, specifications, and descriptions; applying knowledge of materials, machining, and assembly methods and mathematics.
* Prepares stock for machining by measuring, marking, and scribing.
* Machines tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or hand tools by setting up and operating lathe, mill, shaper, grinder, and related equipment.
* Confirms tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or hand tools by comparing measurements to specifications using micrometers, thickness gauges, gauge blocks, and other measurement tools.
* Assembles tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or hand tools by shaping, smoothing, and fitting parts with grinders, files, stones, etc.
* Strengthens tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, or hand tools by heat-treating materials.
