Planner/Scheduler Analyst
Appleton provides ideas that make a difference by creating product solutions through its development and use of coating formulations, coating applications and encapsulation technology. The Company produces carbonless, thermal, security, inkjet and performance packaging products. Appleton is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin, and has manufacturing operations in Wisconsin, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and the United Kingdom, employs approximately 3,400 people, and is 100 percent employee-owned.
Manufacturing Services is the scheduling function of Appleton Plant facility, and is organized around three process-based planning groups: Coating/Calendaring, Rewinding, and Sheets. The department plays a central role in plant operations and supports a large base of internal customers including manufacturing, customer service, logistics, R&D, marketing and HR.
Our Appleton Plant facility is currently seeking a full time trimmer/analyst within our Thermal business. This is a highly visible position, requiring excellent communication and responsiveness to internal customers including customer service, manufacturing, logistics, R&D, Marketing and the scheduling team.
Expected Results: Support Appleton Plant and Thermal business unit objectives through innovation lean manufacturing, and process-improvement initiatives. Actively participates in cross-functional teams. Ensure adequate finished goods and raw materials inventory levels are maintained. Provide support to coater and rewinder schedulers, trimmer, carbonless finishing scheduling team, plant logistics, and work center operators to ensure all orders and/or replenishments are completed on time and special customer requirements are met.
Supporting Activities: Build and facilitate processes around disposition of slow moving/obsolete work in process inventory. Recommend changes to existing trims based on current customer demand. Coordinate updates and communications with manufacturing around machine/process capabilities and restrictions. Respond to manufacturing service issues which may impact stock availability at any of our eight distribution centers. Review roll storage systems and follow procedures recommending disposition of obsolete/aged inventory. Actively engaged in overall product flow management efforts. Perform material utilization analysis for finished rolls serviced through the Appleton Plant, while maximizing service, yield and minimizing cost within roll finishing. Review current bill-of-material structures to ensure upstream material requirements are met and proper linkages are in place. Ensure special instructions required from our external customers are followed and communicated to the production floor. Process customer requests and guide order completion activities.
Required Prior Accomplishments, Experience and Skills: Knowledge and/or exposure to planning, scheduling (MRPII) and inventory control concepts. Exposure to Lean Manufacturing principles, cost accounting and statistics. Desire 2-5 years experience. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Operation Management. Experience will be considered in place of educational requirements. Demonstrated team player, strong communication and interpersonal skills, uses sound judgment, highly organized, persistent, accurate, flexible, motivated, analytical, innovation and resourceful. PC-literate; working knowledge of windows-based applications including Word and Excel. Special technologies used in this position include: JD Edwards Planning and Scheduling software including the NOTES system, MES, and Trim optimization software (X-trim) Good working knowledge of process-based manufacturing with multiple products and work center dependencies. Paper industry experience is a plus.
