Plant Health and Safety Coordinator

AMVAC is a publicly traded company (AVD) that manufactures and distributes agricultural chemicals. 

 

We are looking for an individual who has gained health and safety experience in a plant environment.  The successful candidate will be self-motivated, have the capacity to influence senior plant management, and have excellent communication skills. 

 

The candidate should be able to demonstrate an ability to create safety programs, lead compliance efforts regarding government regulations, and run a safety audit program.

 

The position is reports to the Vice-President of Technology and is responsible to develop, maintain and improve programs and training for compliance with regulatory health and safety requirements, Federal OSHA, State and Local relations, and support company objectives.

 

Individual duties include:

 

- Prepare and maintain documentation to ensure the company is in full

compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

- Define and implement training programs

 

- Conduct compliance audits

 

- Coordinate corrective action as needed

 

- Participate in accident investigations

 

- Lead the annual safety awareness program

 

- Actively pursue improvements in company procedures to

  reduce frequency/severity of injuries

 

- Maintain data bases regarding all safety and health issues

 

 

Qualifications

 

BS/BA degree, preferably in a science or health/safety discipline.  Three to five years related experience in a plant environment.
