Process Safety Engineer/PSM Engineer

Our client is a major international petrochemical company with manufacturing operations throughout the world. In its Beaumont production complex, we have an exceptional opportunity for an entry-level Process Safety Engineer, to be groomed for later advancement into broader process engineering roles.

 

In your initial role, you will be assigned to a production unit & develop an in-depth knowledge of the unit and where the process safety risks exist. Your assignments will involve participating in a large scale study of the site's safety relief valves and working with process safety consultants. You will also assist with evaluating the risk assessment findings based on PHA & Hazop studies conducted in the units.

 



Over time, you may lead HAZOPs and other process hazards analyses and have increasing involvement in the development & implementation of Process Safety Management programs, as well as systems to monitor the PSM program and provide management information reports. You will also provide other safety support, including incident investigations, analysis, and safety training. High achieving engineers will have the opportunity to rotate into Process Engineering roles or advance to larger roles.

 

We are interested in individuals with the following background:

 


BS degree in Chemical Engineering, with a strong record of academic performance 
A minimum of 0-3 years chemical engineering experience. Entry-level candidates will be considered. Chemical engineering experience in a petrochemical plant would be a plus, but is not required 
Strong verbal communication skills
Desire to be groomed for advancement into other process engineering roles in the future
Ability to function exceptionally well in a team-oriented environment
