Product Engineer

The Product Engineer is responsible for research, design, development and implementation of new products as well as improvement to existing products. This position is a key contributor in the overall product plan implementation.  This function must interact with all facets of the Parlec organization to meet intended goals.  Design principles are to be used and documented in accordance with Parlec's ISO Procedures.  Many of the responsible parties involved in meeting his/her goals do not report to him/her.  As a result, the Product Engineer must have excellent interpersonal skills.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Product Manager.

 

*  Responsible for the development and execution of all relevant projects.

 

*  Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that shows respect for customers and co-workers.

 

*  Responsible for adhering to and maintaining all applicable ISO procedures.  This includes active participation in the internal and external audits when necessary.

 

*  Engineering activities on special applications for customers and research and development products.

 

*  Verification and validation of designs.

 

* Assist Materials Management in vendor selection and support.

 

*  Assist in the improvement of products through root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

*  Review and implementation of Engineering Design Changes.

 

*  Creation of Bill of Materials and review of manufacturing costs and routings with Materials Management and Manufacturing Engineering.

 

*  Technical support for Parlec Internal and External sales force and end users.

 

*  Assist in the development of specifications and testing product conformance to those specifications.

 

*  Creation of technical manuals and product instructions as needed.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Minimum(Mechanical):  Experience with Mechanical Design utilizing 3D solid modeling.

Experienced with the design of products utilized in the metal cutting industry.

Minimum(Software):  Experience with MS Visual Study C# (C-Sharp), Linux OS and GUI development.

Desired:  B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering,  Design Engineering or Computer Science and/or two to six years in a CNC Manufacturing environment and experience with AUTOCAD Inventor. MySQL database knowledge.
