GENERAL SUMMARY:
Under the Production Supervisor's direction, the Production Associate is responsible for set up and operation of machinery to combine dry and/or liquid chemicals into customer products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Set up and start all machines checking all controls for adherence to mixing/extruding procedures
-Weigh ingredients and insert into machinery or ensures correct ingredients are delivered to the work area and insert pre-blended materials into machinery
-Monitor production and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
-Operate machinery to mix/extrude the ingredients according to procedures
-Examine materials visually or with hands to ensure conformance to established standards
-May take samples to quality control for testing. Follow lab instruction adding raw materials to the batch to meet specifications. Label finished product
-Refer problems to lead/supervisor for disposition
-Coordinate removal of completed batch with material handler
-Perform required machine cleaning
-Complete and maintain required SAP documents
-Follow and comply with safety, work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards
-Provide training on mixing processes to new employees as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

-Requires high school diploma or GED equivalency
-6-12 months of prior manufacturing experience
-Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications
- Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and the ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume and distance
-Effectively communicate one-on-one and in small group situations
-Ability to reason and address problems
-May require obtainment of a Fork Lift Operator's License
-Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, scales, spatula, barrel cart, hand trucks, fork lift, utility knife and mixer/blender machinery and computer equipment
-Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear
-Occasionally required to sit
-The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 100 pounds
-Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
-Work is inside and the typical noise level is loud
-Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles; frequently exposed to vibration; occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock
