GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Production Associate sets up and operates mixer/blenders to combine dry and/or liquid chemicals/colors into customer products.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Set up/start machines, checking controls for adherence to procedures/specifications, notifying appropriate personnel of material stage
* Process, batch off, cut up, package and/or skid material to correct size/container
* Accurately weigh raw materials for each specific product; run mixing according to specifications/procedure, determining appropriate batch size/weight
* Supply/support mill operators with appropriate materials/functions
* Properly code finished product and unused raw materials
* Advise appropriate people on mixing issues, changes, adjustments, or movement of material
* Maintain clean/organized work area at all times; follow safety/quality policies and procedures
* Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Requires high school diploma or GED and 1 year of related experience in a manufacturing environment
* Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read/comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications
* Must have mathematical skill to add, subtract, multiply and divide and ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance
* Must be able to effectively communicate in English one-on-one and in small group situations and train new associates as necessary
* Must have ability to reason and address problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
* Must have manual dexterity sufficient to operate a wide variety of small hand tools, scales, spatula, barrel cart, hand trucks, fork lift, utility knife, and mixer/blender machinery and computer equipment
* Ability to learn and comprehend use of SAP system to print labels

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/or hear
* Occasionally required to sit
* Requires constant standing and the employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 65 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250 pounds
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Requires the use of safety equipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses and shoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearing protection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc
* Work is inside in a hot industrial machinery environment and the typical noise level is loud
* Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock
