Production Manager - Lean Manufacturing

Role Purpose: The Production Manager for GKN Sinter Metals facility in
Manitowoc, WI will lead, administer and coordinate the
activities of the plant, including manufacturing and production
control (MP&L). They will have the ability to work with all
functions including human resources, maintenance / support
services, engineering and finance. The production manager
is a member of the senior management staff of this $30M
manufacturing operation. Their greatest skill is having the
ability to ability to lead the transformation to a lean
manufacturing culture whilst delivering on safety, quality,
delivery, cost, morale and environmental commitments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. In conjunction with Human Resources, Ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Stress continuous improvement through behavioral based safety activities and training. Chair the Site Safety Steering Committee. Look for and achieve continuous improvement.
2. In conjunction with the Quality Manager, ensure quality procedures and management systems are in place and robust to ensure quality metrics are met. Look for and achieve continuous improvement.
3. In conjunction with MP&L and Customer Service develop and deliver a production schedule and sales forecast which will balance production and ensure 100% on time delivery within budgeted performance levels. Look for and achieve continuous improvement.
4. Manage production supplies and other variable expense accounts to ensure spending remains consistent as a percentage of sales month over month and annually. Look for and achieve continuous improvement.
5. In conjunction with Human Resources and Sr. Management, ensure plant policies and procedures align with organizational objectives. Promote an environment of empowerment and accountability.
6. Ensure compliance with all management systems including: GKN Management Manuals, TS16949 standards, ISO 14001 Standards and OSHAS 18001 standards. Look for and achieve continuous improvement.

Required Experiences:
Minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role within an automotive production environment
Lean Manufacturing / Business Excellence / Toyota Production Systems
