Production Planner

Plan and implement production schedules within the framework of the master schedule.

Monitor and manage inventory levels to minimize inventory costs while maintaining production efficiencies and the desired level of customer service.

 Schedule work orders within the guidelines of the production plan.

 Generate pro-forma purchase orders for sourced goods and coordinate with Sourcing Manager.

 Monitor MPS/J.D. Edwards system for potential disruptions in supply.

 Expedite or delay schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.

 Prepare and distribute reports related to production and inventory status.

 Participate in production meetings on a daily and wkly basis

 Responsibility for issuance of finished goods item codes and item master maintenance.

 Validate and adhere to established inventory levels and safety stocks.

 Identify slow moving inventory and recommend ways to reduce inventory and waste.

 Conduct investigation when significant inventory discrepancies are found.

 Assist Finance (Cost Accounting) with physical inventories as needed.

 Assist in creation of departmental procedures.

 

Must Requirements

B. S. Degree in Materials Management or related field preferred but experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

Non-degreed individual must have 3-4 years experience  as a production and inventory control specialist in a manufacturing environment.

Must be computer literate with experience in Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word.

 

Preferred Requirements

J. D. Edwards experience and APICS certification are a definite plus.
