Production Planning Manager 1

Job Description: GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Responsible for developing, directing and coordinating material planning activities that support the production plan for a given set of customer programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TYPICAL FOR MOST POSITIONS:
1. Coordinates schedule of activities with customer on planning, scheduling, shipping and material acquisition during program start-ups.
2. Produces revenue analysis and annual operating (AOP) plan and other forecast reports.
3. Conducts special studies, investigations and analyses relating to the introduction of new products or processes to effect cost reduction and yield improvements.
4. Responsible for the development and implementation of the company's production control functions including Master Scheduling, Production Planning/Coordination, Shop Scheduling, and Dispatching.
5. Develops, implements and approves items such as material requirements, planning systems, work in process tracking, material and labor variance controls and manufacturing performance reporting.
6. Approves quantities, schedules and parts list provided to the material control organization to ensure timely and complete ordering, receipt and issuance of production material requirements.
7. Responsible for planning, reviewing and developing production procedures and personnel.
8. Maintains reports to reflect scheduling, methods, support performance and process procedures.
9. Interfaces with customers to ensure delivery commitments are met and with subordinates, functional peer group managers and senior management.
10. Develops material planning models to ensure proper material planning and optimal inventory positions for customer programs. Utilizes models for determining material planning parameters for components.
11. Interfaces with purchasing to expedite problem parts and to reschedule material deliveries that will result in excess inventory.
12. Notifies Materials and Program Management of material situation that affect the attainment of the production plan.
13. Travel as necessary.

Education / Experience
Typically requires a Bachelor degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 4 years of materials experience, or a Masters degree and 2 years of materials experience, with advanced experience using Manufacturing Requirement Planning (MRP) systems.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Demonstrates operations and technical skills and understanding of Solectron's functional standards. Demonstrates working knowledge of functional concepts and a solid understanding of Solectron policies and procedures. Has awareness of the functional impact upon work processes and other functions. To perform the major job responsibilities the use of the following tools may be required: Office Skills: telephones, data entry, office software to include, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation packages and database systems.
