Production Superintendent - 2nd shift

Ashley Furniture, the  largest furniture manufacturer in the United States with $2.7 billion in annual sales. has an immediate opportunity open for an experienced manufacturing superintendent on our 2nd shift. 

 

The successful candidate  will have previous manufacturing management experience leading and directing production activities for multiple departments and processes. This individual will mentor production Supervisors to achieve overall performance goals for production, cost, quality, and safety. Coordinate production activities through planning with departmental Supervisors, Schedulers, HR Manager, and Quality Systems trainers to ensure that manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.



This role is a visible role within the organization and will require exercising a high degree of independent judgment and discretion, make frequent operating decisions and take actions of difficult and complex nature, including some independent decisions and actions, which may affect a major function of the business. Operational excellence and innovation are directions this role will strive for on a daily basis in order to make a difference within the processes they will be managing. Required education for this position is a Bachelors degree in Industrial Management or related field plus 5 - 8 years experience in a production management capacity. Required knowledge for this position includes: Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Quality Improvement principles; Capacity planning and product flow; Industrial equipment with a strong mechanical aptitude; Microsoft office software and usage.



The essential functions of this position include:



Leads the efforts to develop new processes and improve product by working with internal customers, suppliers, and domestic and overseas vendors. Use personal ingenuity and ideas to create better processes.



Manage and improve functional area?s performance measures through use and interpretation of Continuous Improvement tools at a strategic and functional level. Improve working conditions and processes (safety, quality, productivity, cost) including supporting and directing employee to participate in improvement programs.



Plan in a forward capacity by working with purchasing and inventory control to achieve and maintain product flow to meet production and financial objectives.



Develop supervision though managing their performance. Assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews.



Ensures that the highest standards of shop floor organization and excellent housekeeping presentation of our manufacturing facility are maintained.
