Production Team Leader/Supervisor
PRODUCTION TEAM LEADER/SUPERVISOR
Large food-processing plant in northeastern Indiana seeks qualified candidates to serve as second-shift production team leader/supervisor for its manufacturing line and its printing/roll stock department.
The role of the production team leader/supervisor is to direct and coordinate team members in manufacturing-related activities. The production team leader/supervisors utilize in an efficient manner their knowledge of safety, product technology, production methods, quality standards and procedures, employee involvement, teaming, and continuous improvement in order to meet company goals for quality, quantity, and customer service.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
? Review daily production schedule to plan work and personnel assignments.
? Lead and direct employees in performing their duties to ensure safety, cost, productivity, and quality standards; maintain adherence to company policies and good housekeeping practices.
? Anticipate and determine causes of delays in shift operations and take appropriate action to meet production schedule requirements; help inspect and analyze product defects.
? Conduct performance evaluations, recommend promotions, and take other personnel actions as needed.
? Stimulate maximum efficiency and productivity of employees; promote teamwork to attain department objectives.
? Assure that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.
? Assure that the appropriate production records are prepared accurately and entered into the system.
? Assure efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.
? Commit to the company goals, mission, and vision.
? Assist operators with daily production duties.
? Prepare for and assist with changeovers.
? Train operators who are newly assigned to workstations, helping them attain quality and productivity standards.
? Lead pre-shift and end-of-shift debriefings.
? Generate and encourage improvement ideas and help implement them.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
? Must be able to adapt to heat in the summer and cold in the winter.
? Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and exert 25 to 100 pounds of force occasionally.
? Must be able to push, pull, stand, and walk. This job involves bending and twisting, and some reaching is required.
? High mental and visual efforts are required.
QUALIFICATIONS
All candidates must have the following minimum qualifications:
? Bachelor?s degree in management, industrial engineering, or a related field, or associate?s degree with related experience.
? Experience in employee involvement culture; strong commitment to core values; ability to manage with high humility and strong service mentality.
? Experience in calculating and managing with key performance indicators; experience working in continuous improvement environment.
? Demonstrated understanding of base business costing (i.e., analyzing cost/unit, scrap, material usage, etc.).
? Familiarity with QA/clean manufacturing processes.
? Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills; ability to make business presentations to leadership; proven track record in conducting on-the-job training and skill development for employees.
? Must be strong self-starter and able to add value immediately; must have significant team leader experience.
? Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs in manufacturing; ability to use PLC programming software such as RS Logix and PanelView; experience with date-coding equipment, industrial robots, hydraulics and pneumatics, 3 Phase Power, and other PC programs.
? Willingness to work twelve-hour night shifts and every other weekend.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, manufacturing line candidates must have the following:
? 3?4 years of direct production leadership in food or consumer products.
? Knowledge of FDA or USDA regulations and requirements.
In addition to the minimum qualifications, printing/roll stock candidates must have the following:
? 3?4 years of direct production leadership in corrugated board, paper, or printing.
? Extensive knowledge of Flexo operations.
